Nickelodeon cancels Sam & Cat

Nickelodeon cancels Sam & Cat

It looks like that Nickelodeon have indeed cancelled the sitcom ‘Sam & Cat’. The series will stop after an extended first season.

Sam & Cat’ is a combined spin-off of ‘iCarly’ and ‘Victorious’ in which Sam Puckett (Jennette McCurdy) and Cat Valentine (Ariana Grande) find each other, they become friends and roommates. To earn some money they start, after school, a babysit business. Other cast members are; Maree Cheatham, Cameron Ocasio and Zoran Korach.

At first the series had 20 episodes and had its premiere in June 2013. It was such a big success that Nickelodeon decided to order another 20 episodes after just one month. ‘Sam & Cat’ was on its way to be renewed for a second season but backstage issues derailed the show towards the end of the first season. That resulted in the production of only 36 episodes.

The sitcom was put on permanent hiatus and it was expected that Nickelodeon would make a decision about the future of ‘Sam & Cat’ at a later date. And now it seems the quietly made their decision and the series will end.

It seems that the final episode, #GettingWiggy, will air on July 17.
