Peacock shared the following about the upcoming special series:
"SNL50: BEYOND SATURDAY NIGHT offers a behind-the-scenes look at some of the most iconic elements and rich history of America's late-night comedy institution and will stream exclusively on Peacock beginning Thursday, January 16.
The documentary is executive produced by Academy Award and Emmy Award winner Morgan Neville, with each episode showcasing a different creative approach to different aspects of Saturday Night Live and the unique vision of its award-winning directors: Emmy Award winner Robert Alexander (Episode 1), Academy Award winner Marshall Curry (Episode 2), Emmy nominee Neil Berkeley (Episode 3) and Emmy nominee Jason Zeldes (Episode 4).
Featuring never-before-seen footage spanning five decades of Saturday Night Live history, the documentary features insights from more than 60 contributors, including Amy Poehler, Jon Lovitz, Andy Samberg, Bill Hader, Jason Sudeikis, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Stephen Colbert, Tracy Morgan, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Silverman, Larry David, Dana Carvey, Jimmy Fallon, Will Ferrell, Billy Crystal, Damon Wayans, John Lithgow, Tina Fey, Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Hanks.
