I saw the original first series even before it was on TV in Belgium. From what I have seen so far, the Shōgun 2024 is largely similar in terms of story, but adapted to the options you now have for producing it.
Brilliant series, in my opinion the best new series of 2024. FX never really disappoints when it comes to series, but they really outdid themselves with this one. That said, am I waiting for a second (and third) season? I have mixed feelings about that. In principle, I don't need it. The story is nicely wrapped up (it was intended as a miniseries after all) and spoiler alert: not everyone makes it to the end of the series. On the other hand: if FX takes its time developing the second season again (which took four years for the first season; the series was already announced in 2020), then I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. If this is rushed together given the success of season 1, then I'd rather pass.
Series about ancient Japan How the White Englishman is Included In Japanese tradition and struggle Winner of a Golden Globe for Best Series 2024 I think that says enough....
Nice series. But for me personally no more than that. I don't know why. The series was good enough to watch, but here and there I found it a bit boring. Must be me. I'm not really into tea ceremonies and such ;-) Production-wise it looks really cool. They've captured old Japan really nicely. So definitely a good enough. But not my best series of 2024.
