Grief, PTSD, divorce, these are not exactly subjects you would expect for a comedy series. But for a series about psychiatrists, it might be completely right. And that is what this series is. And despite the heaviness of some of the underlying themes, the show is fun, very fun. It took me an episode and a half to get into it, but once I did, I found myself laughing out loud multiple times in each episode.
The series runs without a laugh track or audience in the background, so it is up to the viewer whether they get the jokes. I always find that really cool and I prefer these types of series over series like Friends and Cheers. The cast is sublime and brings everything with great conviction and naturalness. Even the, by now obligatory, gay friend, is hilarious and often provides a great punchline. I didn't expect Harrison Ford in a sitcom, but man, he's funny with his deadpan humor. But the other roles also provide fun situations and no character seems superfluous.
All in all a very nice experience, this series. With 10 episodes of half an hour in season 1 it is also very good to binge in a few days. A second season has now been announced and I'm definitely looking forward to it after watching season 1.
