Sisi

The last three episodes weren't necessary. Should have put the missing pieces in the first three episodes and maybe made four episodes.

In itself a fascinating approach to the Sissi (Sisi?) story. Only: in a series you expect each season to end with a high or low point. Nothing actually happens here at the end, you don't know at all from the series itself where history will go next. It is very clear that there needs to be a sequel - if the market wants it that way. The question remains whether this will happen. Because of the vision, we score this with 8*. Cinematically, I am a little less enthusiastic. The camera and direction are excellent and fascinating, the lighting is less so and the DVD transfer is rather mediocre. Too bad for the work done. We remain hungry while waiting for a sequel. If this does not happen, the series will drop in my rating because it cannot live up to the original premise; insight into the history and drama of Sisi himself. (M)
