I really enjoyed Spinning out. As far as I'm concerned, this was the best Netflix series since Unbelievable. January Jones (Mad Men) is fantastic as Kat and Serena's Borderline Syndrome plagued mother. Her eldest daughter Kat also has the condition and both girls practice high-level figure skating. After a heavy fall, Kat switches from skating solo to skating with a partner. That partner is the son of her wealthy boss, a certain Justin, played by Evan Roderick. Roderick was an ex-ice hockey pro and an actor with tons of charisma. A bright future awaits him, I predict, as 'male lead' in rom-coms. Kaya Scodelario (Skins) plays the role of Kat and I thought she was the absolute star of the series. She is so intense that her energy splashes off the screen as soon as she stops taking her medication. During her manic phase, she takes off like a whirlwind and as soon as she returns to Earth, her impotence and vulnerability hit you like a hammer blow. The series therefore gives a good picture of what it is like to have to live with this condition. That really came in. I also have to say something about Amanda Zhou (Crazy rich Asians) who plays Jenn, Kat's best friend. She also acts the tiles of the roof. You empathize with her in all of her injuries, and Jenn is such a sweetheart, you'd want to hug her all the time. If you could. And yes, this series is about skating, but skating is really only an afterthought. It's about people, about relationships, about love, loss, grief and forgiveness. It's about life. It's beautiful. I didn't give one series a 10/10 last year, but this one, although I might be a little biased, because I empathized with the characters and embraced them so unconditionally (grin).
