latevogel 8 • 1 second ago One of the most exciting series of recent times with, and that is important, excellent actors! The series comes from South Korea, a country that has been booming in recent years since we as Westerners have discovered that outside the English-speaking areas there is also a (very) good film industry. Consider, for example, Spanish-language and Scandinavian films and series. I came to this series as a viewer thanks to the "tremendous" attention given to it thanks to Netflix's (intentional or unintentional) misrepresentation of the age limit. It used to say 12 years, while it is actually intended for an audience of 16 years and older. After the first episodes I was immediately a fan of it, beautiful and detailed scenes, great story and a beautiful setting of the series. The actors are also very important in the series, you get to know them well and all their problems. Yes, problems, because one has even greater debts than the other and the social status of some would be destroyed if the people found out that that status is based on the people in question holding on to it tenaciously. And this results in sinking deeper and deeper into the swamp! Beautiful series and I can recommend it to everyone. (from 16 years) An 8+
This is an "in-between season" and ends on a cliffhanger. It is possible that two storylines in this season will feel redundant and not be developed. Perhaps that will come in season 3. I understand that will come in June. All in all I wasn't very impressed with this season. The surprise was gone. If the main character also gets an Emmy and Golden Globe nomination for this, I'll eat my hat. The man just looks sullen and doesn't come out much else. Just like most other actors, by the way. Korean acting is an acquired taste that (to me) doesn't always come across well, possibly due to cultural differences.
Anyway, I won't skip season 3. But if this will be another hype like the first season, I just don't get why. But I didn't do that in 2021 either :-)
Tip for people who love this: definitely watch the Japanese series "Alice in Borderland". Ended now, but this series has a similar story (but was earlier) and is in my opinion much more exciting and better.
