Netflix unveiled the trailer at the Tudum event this past weekend, and the footage leaves little to the imagination: a disorienting maze, a deadly game of skipping rope, and a confrontation between Gi-hun and the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) dominate the atmosphere. “Why did you let me live?” Gi-hun screams in desperation. His search for answers and justice seems to be leading him further into a trap.
After his victory in season one, Gi-hun decided to turn against the organizers. In season two, we saw him secretly working to take down the system, but his rebellion was rudely ended by the Front Man, who, to make matters worse, executed his best friend Park Jung-bae (Player 290) as a warning. The identity of the Front Man — former Player 001 — is now known to the public, but for Gi-hun, it remains a mystery that will possibly unfold in season three.
Season three will debut on Netflix on Friday, June 27, marking the conclusion of the original series from creator Hwang Dong-hyuk. All episodes will be released at once. While Netflix has not officially confirmed the number of episodes, reports are circulating that there will be six episodes.
