Netflix Unveils Final Trailer for Squid Game Season Three

Netflix Unveils Final Trailer for Squid Game Season Three

The final trailer for the final season of Squid Game promises an intense and gripping ending to the global Netflix hit.
While previous trailers for Squid Game focused mainly on tension and action, this latest version opts for an introspective approach, with slow-paced music and a haunting voiceover from the character Jang Geum-ja, aka Player 149, played by Kang Ae-sim.

In her monologue, Geum-ja addresses the series’ protagonist, Seong Gi-hun (Player 456, played by Lee Jung-jae). She confronts him—and the viewer—with the moral complexity of the story. She asks him if he holds himself responsible for everything that has happened, and emphasizes how unfair life can be. Bad people, she says, do bad things but pass the buck and move on. Good people, on the other hand, continue to torture themselves for even the smallest of mistakes. Still, she continues to believe in Gi-hun, saying that she still believes he has come to save everyone. At this point, Gi-hun takes over, closing the trailer with the powerful line: “I’m trying to put an end to it.”

This new trailer ties in closely with the conclusion of season two, which was released in late December and ended with a painful cliffhanger. It became clear that the deadly Games were not over yet. Despite his victory in season one, Gi-hun remained determined to destroy the corrupt system from within. However, his plans were thwarted by the mysterious Front Man, played by Lee Byung-hun.

In a shocking conclusion, Front Man was revealed to be none other than Player 001—a revelation that the audience saw, but Gi-hun himself did not yet know. As a warning against Gi-hun’s rebelliousness, Front Man even had Gi-hun’s best friend, Player 290 (Park Jung-bae, played by Lee Seo-hwan), executed on the spot.

With only a short time left until the long-awaited release, Netflix is building up the tension around this final season. It promises to be an emotionally charged season, with themes such as guilt, resistance and sacrifice central. Squid Game—now the most-watched series on Netflix ever—seems to be gearing up for an unforgettable finale in which everything is at stake and Gi-hun’s mission to topple the system will be put to the ultimate test.

From Friday 27 June, you can see whether Gi-hun succeeds in putting an end to Squid Game. Watch the trailer below.
