What would it be like to wear a bracelet that makes you feel lucky. Would I immediately go to the casino to gamble a lot? Probably! Would I go where the most beautiful women are so I can trip some of them ... so that they fall on me? Most likely yes! Okay, I'll take that back before Mrs. Vevie gets over my bed with a machete. She's pretty scary, that woman. In Stan Lee's Lucky Man, James Nesbitt wears a bracelet that brings him luck. Lucky Bastard! Or not, of course. Even the shiniest medal has a downside. What shines dazzles. In Stan Lee's Lucky Man, Harry Clayton is a homicide detective. His wife is about to divorce him and he has a gambling addiction. This addiction even leaves its mark at work. Harry's life gets a lot more complicated when he is given an urgent ultimatum: either Harry comes up with the money he owes a local casino boss as soon as possible, or he has a big problem. Then Harry meets an extremely graceful lady with whom he ends up in bed. Harry's young man wants something too, of course. When he wakes up, he suddenly has a strange bracelet on ... a bracelet that he cannot remove. Harry soon finds out that the wearer of this bracelet deserves luck. Harry can certainly use that now. He is a suspect in a murder case and there appear to be dubious little guys after the bracelet. So the question is whether Harry is indeed a 'Lucky Man'? Stan Lee doesn't need an introduction, of course, but he's the iconic gentleman behind many Marvel titles. You also always see Stan in a small cameo in the Marvel movies. Mr. Lee has developed this ten-part series especially for the British market. Lee says he has always been fascinated by the theme of happiness. The first episode went well in the Vevie household. I can certainly appreciate the atmosphere that the series exudes and the tone that is chosen. I myself am a bit tired of superheroes. But, if these kinds of series are made anyway; rather than a Daredevil or Jessica Jones, than an Arrow of Legends of Tomorrow. The former are series that portray these types of characters much more interesting and humane. Much more depth is sought, so that more complex stories and characters can be shown. I therefore sincerely hope that Lucky Man will go that way, because this is definitely a different kind of 'hero'. The series shows a detective who is under a magnifying glass and whose private life is a mess. By obtaining this bracelet, the makers can explore what impact this object will have on Harry. Will he use his newfound gift to organize his life or is it the catalyst that will get him into further trouble? The relationship with his partner Suri is also worthwhile. Does Suri stand behind her partner or does she opt for her own skin when it becomes more and more difficult to hold a hand above Harry's head? The series is in fact about what really is happiness. Every time when things threaten to go wrong for Harry, he is given a helping hand. I'm curious how the series will build on this. A lot of tension / threat is taken out of the series when Harry is 'untouchable'. If the audience knows in advance that the bracelet will save him from any predicament, then don't worry about the character's fate either. So that needs to be looked at carefully. In addition, the series must make it clear why Harry was chosen to wear this bracelet. There are plenty of people with problems, which makes Harry an exception. If "because he is the protagonist" is the answer, it is much less interesting. Lucky Man needs to go even more in depth if it is to be more than entertaining. But it is certainly entertaining at the moment. www.meneervevie.com

Hmm, will series 3 be continued or will it turn into series 4? Can't imagine this is the end of the series.
