I just saw the first episode of season 3. In my opinion, it misses the point. It gave me more of a Star Wars vibe than a Star Trek feeling. Even a kind of Cantina scene (now in a kind of mall) and a McGuffin, or something completely superfluous in terms of plot that would have been stolen, are not missing. They passed the canon so that they were no longer "bothered" by it. But so far the Star Trek atmosphere is hard to find in my opinion. I sincerely hope this improves in the coming episodes. What they have perfected is the diversity that ST is known for. I don't believe there is a single white actor (recognizable as such) prominently featured in this episode. Perhaps also another milestone in the long Star Trek history.

Simply beautifully made, a feast for the eyes. The story is much darker than we are used to from Star Trek, but that's okay. I'm happy with it !
