I don't know, but I'm having some trouble with this second season. It all seems a bit forced to me. The story doesn't really resonate with me. And all well-known heads who are completely different? It's all a bit far-fetched. And actually boring. Too bad Q is actually only used as a MacGuffin. We are already half way through the season and it is still completely unclear what his motivation is for doing this. No, this doesn't seem to be going in the right direction. And if this continues, this will unfortunately be yet another Star Trek attempt that Alex Kurtzman and associates manage to screw up.
It would have been better to call the 2nd season Star Trek Reunion. We see: Brent Spiner (Data), Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine), John de Lancie (Q), Whoopi Goldberg (Guinan), Jonathan Frakes (William Riker), Jonathan Del Arco (Hugh) LeVar Burton (Geordi La Forge) they probably didn't find. I'm a big fan of Star Trek, but season 2 makes no sense. From one flashback to another, filled with endless bullshit. Very little has been seen of the real Star Trek adventures after seven episodes.
I'm still nostalgic for the best Star Trek series ever: ST:TNG with deep space travel. ST:VOY is a close second followed by ST:DS9. And then ST:Enterprise was still exciting, even though it took place BEFORE the TOS era, especially with the Xindi. I don't find the new TOS-based series such as ST: Discovery and now ST: Strange New Worlds, which is unfortunately also based on the old TOS era, exciting at all. Also too much woke stuff. Furthermore, I just don't like those TOS spaceships. I hope for a real sequel to ST:TNG. I don't really think Picard is a successor to TNG either. They would have been better off continuing TNG with a new crew and going back into space with spaceships to explore new worlds, mysteries and aliens. They have already made a time jump to the current century. Furthermore, Patrick Stewart should simply enjoy his well-deserved retirement.
I watched the first episode this afternoon and I loved it, although I am a big fan of all things Star Trek and that might affect my image, but that doesn't mean I'm pleasantly surprised. And it is only the first episode. Patrick Stewart plays very well, I think. A pleasure to watch. What I do not understand is that Jery Ryan has already received more than 50 votes while she does not play at all in the first episode. And only one episode has aired so far.
Sodeju, this season is so much better than season 2! It is truly exciting and I am curious every week to see how things will continue. I even think it's a shame that this is the last season...
After season 2, which was generally recognized as worthless, there will be a final third season. And when I see the trailer for it, I become moderately enthusiastic again. See for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9o-QBUw8Rf0
I was pleasantly surprised by the first episode of the third season. Maybe a bit too early to cheer, but it had a good tone and atmosphere, nice humor and a story that I'm curious to see in which direction it will go. Hopefully it stays that way!
I've seen two episodes and I especially liked the pictures. What should I actually see for this to understand better, because sometimes I didn't understand much, thanks for the suggestions in advance.
Jean-Luc Picard was the captain of the Enterprise in The Next Generation (TNG). In the Picard series, this is heavily reverted to and references to events and people from this series. Like his encounters with The Borg that left deep scars on him. If you watch those episodes of TNG, you've come a long way with the backstory for Picard. I came across another handy link if you're interested in this further: https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/star-trek-picard-essential-borg-episodes There are also many characters from TNG in this series. Knowledge of this is not necessary, but it does help to understand the mutual relationships between these characters and Picard. And later in the series, 7 or 9 is introduced in Picard. That's another character from Voyager. She has been Borg, which is important to understand her character. If you have little background in Star Trek, it will still be a good and interesting SF series. But with that knowledge, the story and especially the relationships between different characters can be better understood.
In summary, the first season creates hope, the second season is a disappointment, but the third season makes you long for the next one that unfortunately will not follow unless........
As far as I'm concerned, season 3 has made up for the completely failed 2nd season. In fact, this was almost a TNG season with all the acquaintances from back then making an appearance to a greater or lesser extent. A good story too in which Picard now really has to face and confront his nemesis. Exciting until the last episode. A worthy farewell to this iconic character. This season deserves a 9 in my opinion.
Rarely seen such a quality where the dividing line between television and cinema is so incredibly thin. This is Star Trek Old School with the latest Special effects. The real trekkies will love this and be moved.
Watched 2 series and didn't understand anything. I was hoping for some clarity, but unfortunately not. Fan of Star Trek, the images were beautiful, but the story incomprehensible!
I personally found the first series still enjoyable. A ban on artificial life (androids) due to the disaster at Mars and then a bunch of Androids demanding the right to exist. That still worked. But in the second season they lost themselves in a very vague and unclear time travel story with different roles for well-known characters. Unfortunately, that indeed became an incomprehensible mess that went against everything known in the ST universe. So I totally get that, Simon.
Now I'm not a huge Star Trek fan, but what they made of Picard in two seasons really doesn't make sense. The story in season 2 is completely separate from the first season and is actually about nothing at all. I had a lot of trouble getting through season 1, but season 2 is no different.
