The Boys shows sneak peek for season five at San Diego Comic-Con

During Gen V's Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, fans got an exclusive sneak peek at season five of The Boys.
The fifth season of The Boys is the long-awaited, final chapter of Eric Kripke's acclaimed superhero series. Fans at San Diego Comic-Con were surprised to see an exclusive sneak peek of this fifth season.

The footage, shown only in the theater, provoked an audible reaction from the audience. The trailer opens with Homelander (Antony Starr), now officially the leader of America. In a crowded room, he announces that under his control, the country will become a “safer, God-fearing America”—a clear indication of the dictatorship he is building.

There was also a special moment for Supernatural fans: Jared Padalecki briefly appeared on screen, which was immediately met with loud cheers. He stars opposite Jensen Ackles in season five, who reprises his role as Soldier Boy.

Misha Collins, another Supernatural veteran, is also expected to appear in the new season, though he hasn't yet appeared in the footage.

But there were more striking moments. The short trailer featured the usual The Boys repertoire of bloody action, explosive fights, and social critique. The final image was striking: Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie) initially looks smiling and confident, but her expression slowly shifts into something ominous—as if realizing she's done something terrible. What exactly she sees remains a secret for now.

During the panel, it was reaffirmed that seasons two of Gen V and five of The Boys will be strongly connected. According to the creators, events in Gen V will have direct consequences for the finale of The Boys, tying the two series more closely than ever.

In addition to Gen V, Prime Video is continuing to build an expanded The Boys universe: the animated anthology series The Boys Presents: Diabolical, a prequel set in the 1950s—Vought Rising—and The Boys: Mexico, a new spin-off produced by Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal, written by Blue Beetle screenwriter Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.

An official release date for The Boys season five has not yet been set, but the final season is expected in 2026. With epic confrontations, personal dramas, and the threat of an all-powerful Homelander, the final season of The Boys promises to be an explosive and unforgettable conclusion to a revolutionary superhero series.

Ugh, not until next year... I wish it were already that way. So excited for this final season.
It's good, by the way, that this series is getting a proper ending and isn't being artificially prolonged, which would lose momentum. And it looks like there will be plenty of new content to fill the void.
Just mentioning the screenwriter for Mexico doesn't exactly make my heart race. What a clichéd film that was. That story didn't really resonate. So I hope he makes something better of this.

We're heading towards a devastating climax. Homelander goes completely berserk, Butcher has nothing left to lose, and this will be an explosive confrontation full of clashing egos, shattered ideals, and pure madness. The end of The Boys will be merciless. This will be the explosive ending we've been waiting for all these seasons.
