Sometimes you don't expect much from a series. You reluctantly move to the couch. You are ready for something different and do not feel like the series that you are already watching. As a series lover you know what to do: you just start with a new one !! As if your social life isn't already suffering. As if you don't know that you 'actually watch too many series'. Unhealthy a lot, maybe, but who cares you like it! Then you put on The Carmichael Show and discover a very enjoyable series. The Carmichael Show, do some more of this. Yes, please! A standup comedian and sitcom. Then you soon think of Seinfeld or the failed series called Mulaney. Jerrod Carmichael is also a comedian. A comedian with a voice who likes to talk about weighty subjects. Who finds it important to stick his neck out and play with certain conventions. Who packs all this in a pleasant jacket that is easy to look away, socially relevant and often very funny! I see you, Jerrod! Is the series cliché at times? Yes, no matter how charmed I am with this series. The characterization is pretty clear and the default characters show up here too. But who cares if you like it? Jerrod's mother reminds me of my mother. A black lady with a whole lotta sass! His brother reminds me of friends of mine. Not all always bright, but with the heart in the right place. His girlfriend reminds me of my girlfriend. Maxine, I love you! And his father: at least he stayed in the picture longer than my own father = D. Either way, these are my kind of people. These are topics that concern me (the second episode is fantastic, one of the best comedy episodes of this year). Jerrod, I sincerely hope you have been granted a second season, mattie. These six episodes gave me good times. Speaking of which, when that innovation is a fact, it's time for some Kool & the Gang. Then it's a Celebration!
