The Handmaid's Tale is een Amerikaanse dystopische dramaserie van Hulu. De serie ging in première op 26 april 2017.
In de nabije toekomst heerst in de Republiek Gilead (voormalig Verenigde Staten) een theocratisch schrikbewind dat is gebaseerd op een fundamentalistische uitleg van het Oude Testament. Ook schaffen ze alle rechten van de vrouwen af. Tegelijk worden er bijna geen kinderen meer geboren: bijna alle vrouwen zijn onvruchtbaar geworden. In dit Gilead horen de vrouwen toe aan de staat en gebruiken ze hen alleen nog maar als broedmachines. Offred is een van de weinige vruchtbare vrouwen. Ze is een bediende bij de Commander en leeft in een wereld waar één verkeerd woord haar dood kan betekenen en moet zich staande zien te houden tegenover de commandanten, hun vrouwen en andere bedienden, met het doel om te overleven en om haar dochter terug te vinden.

What a wonderful series! In Game of Thrones class because it is also slightly different from the usual formula. Beautifully acted and surprisingly responsive to the current political danger of religious women's oppression. Especially very exciting and well filmed. Wonderful again such a top series. Applause..

What a bizarre series and so exciting !!!! I can imagine that a society like this will one day emerge, terribly though. I think the actors are super good and I can fully empathize with Offred. I like that there are many flashbacks to how she lived 'in the past'. I can't wait for the new season, because I want to know how it will continue !!!

Whut, sorry about Game of Thrones especially with season 8 because that ends at season 7 for me. but handsmade's tale is better though, and then I am talking about photography that is of an unprecedented level. Besides the story itself. By the way, miss Penny dreadful in the top 100. And the 100 is way too low.

Fantastic series, the best of recent years. Greatly played, acted and super exciting. The last part of season 3 is to cry, so beautiful. If only Season 4 was done, I can't wait to see the sequel.
