The creators of The Lord of the Rings have swapped New Zealand for the United Kingdom. The second season will be produced there. The first season of The Lord of the Rings has been recorded in New Zealand. For the second season, the crew will not return to the distant land. Production of the second season will take place in the UK. For Amazon, it is a logical decision. The production company wants to invest more in recording space in the UK. A lot of Amazon originals are produced in the UK.
It is expected that pre-production of the second season will start in 2022. Post-production of the first season is still ongoing till June 2022. The first season of the long-awaited series will release in
September 2022. The series takes place in the Second Age. In between the story of the Lord of the Rings movies and the story of the series, there is an approximate 3000 year time difference.
