From the first images you are immediately in the story of a murder case. The story takes you through every part of the investigation. Another very good HBO series.

Last Sunday evening, HBO aired the last episode of the 10-part TV series The Outsider. The series is based on a book by Stephen King and belongs in the category of crime, mystery and drama at home, but I think a touch of supernatural can be added to that as well. Jason Bateman is arrested for the murder of a boy but denies having anything to do with it. His alibi is correct. At the time of the murder, he was in a completely different place, visible to everyone on television. From that moment on, an extremely intriguing story develops that keeps you glued to your chair at times. And the police have absolutely no idea in which direction to look. The series has a great cast with stars such as Ben Mendelsohn, Bill Camp, Julianne Nicholson, Cynthia Eviro and Mare Winningham. Of course I can't look into the future, but for me The Outsider is already one of the best series of this year.

Yep, very nice series, only from episode 5 do you think, 'they still have to fill five hours'. How they did that is great, but the ending is stretched too much and shows something that should have been. But in the end it is a story that you can really enjoy with good acting performance.

Had my doubts before I started, but after 5 minutes I was already completely in it. Exciting, mysterious and something supernatural (which I normally don't like). Typically Stephen King, it kind of reminded me of the book "Desperation". Highly recommended this series.

Super nice series, just a shame that the character of Holly does not match the book and the Mr. Mercedes film adaptation at all. She's described as a white woman, but now she's not, which is really strange.

The book was fantastic but I really wondered how they could fill 10 one-hour episodes with it. She succeeded wonderfully. The story has a nice pace, although the ending is stretched a bit too much and some things happen there that are quite strange even in the atmosphere of the story. In my opinion, that cost the series half a point, otherwise I would have ended up with an eight. Unfortunately, the writers have made things up themselves again, especially about Holly. Holly is an existing figure within the Stephen King universe and has previously been portrayed on TV in the Mr. Mercedes series. She gets into a romantic relationship that doesn't suit her. In addition, she now has "gifts" that are not in the books. It is unclear what the added value is of being able to say how tall a building is. It is also a British-African actress who plays her, while in both the books and the other series it is a white woman. Why this was done is not clear in any extras on the DVD. We call that blackwashing. If it is the other way around, then the world is too small, but everyone thinks this is completely normal. I do not get it. Now I certainly don't want to detract from Cynthia Erivo's acting performance, because she knows how to portray Holly well. Anyway, my ultimate conclusion is that it is a fun series that kept me interested for almost 10 hours. I just hope it stays this way. The story has been told, there is no need for a second season. Otherwise I fear the "Under the Dome" syndrome. That series fizzled out after the first season. Then there is no more source material and they start coming up with something themselves. My advice? Do not :-)
