Damn, I thought that was a miniseries. It just ends with a mega cliffhanger... I must also honestly say that I am not really impressed by the series. I had immediately thrown that terrible guy overboard. Iain Glen did well, but Emily Hampshire disappointed me... even though she showed that she can act very well in 12 Monkeys. Also not enough Mark Addy!

I thought Emily Hampshire got better throughout the series. And Mark Addy could have a bigger role in season 2. Hopefully we'll see that.

Fine British series set on an oil platform ("Rig") in the North Sea. The six episodes are easy to watch. The drilling platform is closed off from the outside world by a strange fog. There are also strange earthquakes in a geologically normally very stable area. And to make matters worse, the power goes out on the platform, causing things to go terribly wrong. One of the crew members has a terrible accident, but miraculously manages to survive. Not only that, but he also recovers impossibly quickly from his horrific injuries. Anyway, the first few episodes only deepen the mystery. Because there is no contact with the shore or other nearby drilling platforms, they remain in the dark about what is going on and whether this is also happening elsewhere. Then it becomes clear little by little what is going on and the big question now is whether they can survive this. Exciting and mysterious series with good actors who make you sympathize with the crew. Both the good and the bad are placed well. You already hate one character if he hasn't even said anything yet. And this one is going through a nice development. Iain Glen is very solid, just like in Game of Thrones. The CGI is not equally good everywhere. They have some difficulty, especially with water, whitecaps and fog, but that doesn't really bother them. Furthermore, the drilling platform looks very good. I just hope this series gets a sequel. Because otherwise we'll be left with a big cliffhanger...

Very mediocre series that I stopped watching. Not exciting/fast enough and an unlikely story. Too much boring dialogue too. I don't think the combination lock above works, but I would give it a six.

I watched season 2 in one go last weekend. It is exciting and I thought the story was well developed. It is set on a Rig again. A different one, because the Kinloch Bravo was lost at the end of last season. This new rig is state of the art and appears to be used for other things than drilling for oil. They immediately find themselves in a crisis situation because an underwater vehicle goes missing. The pace is higher than in the first season and the tension remains high. I wanted to keep watching.

A small point of criticism is that this story here and there resembles Der Schwarm. But that did not spoil the fun for me.

Standouts are and remain Iain Glen and Emily Hampshire who has grown well into her role. Mark Addy also does well (JanWillemK must do well :-))
And "I would have thrown that horrible guy overboard right away" (Lars Hutton, played by Owen Teale), is still annoying at times, but turns out to have a little heart after all.

Whether there will be a third season is unclear. It could be, but if the series ends now, it will be pretty much over. We will hear it.

I haven't seen this show, but when I saw the name Owen Teale I thought: yes, indeed. Almost every time I see that man pop up somewhere, he plays someone you could wallpaper over (or worse). I know the man from Game of Thrones, A Discovery of Witches and Line of Duty, and he once had a really nasty guest role in Torchwood.

Yeah, I really enjoy Mark Addy. Especially in a villain role.

Season 2 is definitely a lot more enjoyable and better. Although Emily Hampshire does a better job, I still think her acting skills are the weakest of the main characters.
The story about that annoying guy and that lady who is looking for her wife or girlfriend didn't interest me much, so I'm glad that's over.

There was quite a bit of pace in the story so I certainly wouldn't call it boring. I'm curious about how it will continue. It looks like the army is going to get involved if I heard the last sentence.

I'll stay in the game, yes, but I'm not really that thrilled with it yet.
