Netflix Reveals Start Date, Teaser for Final Season of The Sandman

Netflix has announced that the final season of The Sandman, based on the DC comic by Neil Gaiman, Sam Keith and Mike Dringenberg, will be released in two parts.

Here's the description for season two: "After a fateful reunion with his family, Dream of the Endless (Tom Sturridge) must make one impossible decision after another as he attempts to save himself, his kingdom, and the waking world from the epic consequences of his past misdeeds. To make amends, Dream must confront old friends and foes, gods, monsters and mortals alike. But the path to redemption is filled with twists and turns, and true absolution may cost Dream everything."

In January, the streamer revealed that the series would not be getting a third season. The announcement came amid allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct against Gaiman, who serves as executive producer on the Netflix series alongside David S. Goyer. Gaiman has denied the allegations.

It was reportedly decided before filming began that season two would be the series' conclusion.

“The Sandman series has always been focused exclusively on Dream’s story, and back in 2022, when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough story for one more season,” showrunner Allan Heinberg wrote in a post shared on X back in January. “We are extremely grateful to Netflix for bringing the team all back together and giving us the time and resources to make a faithful adaptation in a way that we hope will surprise and delight the comics’ loyal readers as well as fans of our show.”

Season two stars Tom Sturridge, Vivienne Acheampong, Patton Oswalt, Jenna Coleman, Gwendoline Christie, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Ferdinand Kingsley, and Razane Jammal.

Netflix will release six episodes of The Sandman season two (part one) on Thursday, July 3. The remaining five episodes (part two) will be available to stream on Thursday, July 24.
