The Undoing breaking records at HBO

Never before have so many people watched an episode of an HBO original. The final episode of the first season of The Undoing has been granted the title of most-watched.The Undoing, which features Nicole Kidman (Top of the Lake) and Hugh Grant (A Very English Scandal) in the lead, has entered the record books of HBO. The ratings of the series grew each week. More than three million people watched the final episode, which was five times more than the premiere episode. Which means it became the most-watched episode of any HBO Original.

The record was originally 'owned' by a different series that featured Nicole Kidman. The final episode of the second season of Big Little Lies acquired the title of the most-watched episode back in 2019. Both The Undoing and Big Little Lies come from David E. Kelley (Mr. Mercedes).



Next to that, The Undoing was given the title of best-watched series at HBO Max. The series is preceded by The Flight Attendant (2020). Together, both series caused another record to fall at HBO Max. The total weekly hours spent watching series on HBO Max has never been so high. In the meanwhile, the first episode of The Undoing has been watched more than nine million times.
