The Way Home is een Amerikaanse dramaserie van de zender Hallmark Channel. De serie ging in première op 15 januari 2023.
The Way Home is een familiedrama dat het leven volgt van drie generaties vrouwen: Kat Landry (Leigh), haar 15-jarige dochter Alice (Laflamme-Snow) en Kat's moeder Del (MacDowell), die allemaal sterk zijn, eigenzinnig en onafhankelijk. Meer dan 20 jaar eerder brachten levensveranderende gebeurtenissen Kat ertoe om weg te gaan uit haar kleine, Canadese boerderijstadje Port Haven en tot op de dag van vandaag blijft ze vervreemd van Del. Alice heeft haar grootmoeder nooit ontmoet en is zich niet bewust van de redenen voor hun gebroken gezin. Nu het huwelijk van Kat ten einde loopt en ze net is ontslagen van haar baan, besluit ze naar huis terug te keren nadat ze een onverwachte brief van Del heeft ontvangen waarin ze haar aanspoort terug te komen. Hoewel Alice niet al te enthousiast is, komen Kat en haar dochter aan op de boerderij van haar familie, hoewel de hereniging niet is wat Kat zich had voorgesteld.

Beautiful drama series. What if? You probably ask yourself this question at some point. This is beautifully portrayed without it becoming too cheesy or weird. I go along with the story. Moving. How would your life go if you had made different choices? Curious about the rest. Unfortunately, only 4 episodes of S1 are available now.

I binged the first four episodes yesterday. In Flanders, you can watch it on Play Series or the Play app. Some episodes didn't have Dutch subtitles, but that didn't stop me from empathizing with the characters and enjoying the series. I love films and TV series where the main character travels through time. In The Way Home, that's really cool. I think that's why so many people describe the series as "fun," because Alice travels back to 1999, where she befriends her own mother (who is the same age as Alice herself at the time). I also liked the references to Alice in Wonderland.
It's a Hallmark product, so you know it'll be on the sweet side, but that's okay. The characters are all well-developed, and I haven't encountered any quirky characters (like Madam Mayor in Hallmark's The Good Witch) in the cast. I'm incredibly curious to see how this develops, because my first impression—the first eight episodes so far—was pure enjoyment!
I'm already looking forward to the next seasons. Highly recommended for fans of series like Forever, Revenge, or Switched At Birth.

Nice series but after the conclusion of season 2 I hope that season 3 will be broadcast in the Netherlands soon.

Season 3 just finished here, and I hope RTL 8 comes with season 4 soon. It is an incredibly beautiful series. It is a real shame that they didn't continue with season 4 right away, even though they did air two seasons.
