NBC renews five series, two series still undecided

There is good news for the fans of The ‘Blacklist’, ‘Chicago Fire’, ‘Chicago PD’, ‘Grimm’ and ‘Law Order: Special Victims Unit’, NBC has renewed these series. Fans of ‘Constantine’ and ‘State of Affairs’ must wait awhile longer. NBC has not made a decision on the two newcomers yet.

The Blacklist’ gets a third season. After the first nine episodes of the second season, ‘The Blacklist’ has an average of 11.83 million viewers. Episode nine, the one after the Super Bowl, drew 25.72 million viewers. ‘The Blacklist’ has now been moved to Thursday evening, if it will stay there remains to be seen. The date for the season finale has not been announced yet. ‘The Blacklist’ is the number two most popular series of the largest four entertainment programs at this moment; CBS's ‘Big Bang Theory’ is the number one.

Chicago Fire’ will be extinguishing fires for a fourth season. Currently in the third season, ‘Chicago Fire’ has an average of 7.55 million viewers. It is now NBC's second highest-rated drama and the fourth highest in viewers.

The spin-off of ‘Chicago Fire’, ‘Chicago PD’ will get a third season. ‘Chicago PD’ is broadcast on Wednesday evening and is doing well in terms of ratings; it has an average of 7.22 million viewers. That is slightly less than the first season but still enough reasons for NBC to renew ‘Chicago PD’. ‘Chicago PD’ is currently NBC's fourth highest-rated scripted series and fifth highest in viewers (just below ‘Chicago Fire’).

And ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ is also still very much alive. The series gets a seventeenth season from NBC. ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ may be one of NBC'S longest-running series, but they are still doing very well with viewers. It's NBC's third highest-rated drama with an average of 7.22 million viewers. 356 episodes have now been aired and the end is not yet in sight.

Grimm’ will get a fifth season. The series based on the stories and tales of the Brothers ‘Grimm’ is far from told. ‘Grimm’ did have fewer viewers but NBC still sees enough viewers, 4.99 million, for the series to continue on Friday night. In the fourth season episode 88 will be broadcast but in the fifth season they will get to the hundredth episode.

And after these renewals, the question remains whether newcomers ‘Constantine’ and ‘State of Affairs’ are going to be renewed. Both series are down in the ratings and a representative for NBC said that the decision on the two series probably will be made in the spring. But that the decision has been postponed doesn't look good for both series.

Which series are you going to follow again? Are you hoping for a renewal for ‘Constantine’ and ‘State of affairs’?
