The Event is een Amerikaanse thrillerserie van de zender NBC. De serie ging in première op 20 september 2010.
The Event gaat over Sean Walker die de mysterieuze verdwijning van zijn verloofde Leila onderzoekt. Daarbij legt hij ineens de grootste cover-up in de historie van het land bloot, waar zelfs de nieuw verkozen president mee te maken krijgt. Er is ineens een probleem dat het hele lot van de mens beïnvloedt.

@Josefsson It will be a while before the series is available on DVD I think. Only 10 episodes have aired in America and there is now an intermission until February. The DVD with Dutch subtitles will last even longer. Usually that only happens after he has been on Dutch TV and I don't think there is yet a channel that will broadcast the series.

@Bas @Josefsson It will indeed take a while before this show comes out on DVD. However, it won't be long before the show appears on TV in NL. Veronica already bought the show before it came out in America. They are probably just waiting for the moment when they can air 10+ episodes in one series. Otherwise it will be difficult to sell to advertisers. It is also questionable whether the show will be extended after this season. Transmitter NBC is having some trouble with the ratings and is now trying all kinds of emergency solutions to give this show more attention. They also picked the wrong day and time in my opinion to broadcast this show. They shouldn't want a new show competing with House, Two and a Half Men and How I Met Your Mother on the same night. They should have known better.

I waited a while for the entire 1st season to air, but what a great series! Indeed you see many similarities with Lost and 24 but without all the loose ends of Lost. (at least I still have 3 more episodes to watch) I suspect they could have milked this series with 2 more seasons to go, but sometimes you just have to stop at the peak. Just like Prison Break would have been perfect with 1 season... Anyway, I recommend it.

I would like to thank Bas and Seriejunk for the quick response. I flew from Johannesburg to Amsterdam on Monday. An American had the series on his iPad . He is really very good and exciting. So fingers crossed.

@Tijnos It is indeed a bit of a wait, but many series will start again in January (Spartacus, Hustle, The Cape, V (2009) and many more). They are all fun series. But for The Event and Dexter you will have to wait a little longer
