haha. That gumstarr can make it pretty clear.... But I don't completely agree. Leftovers with conversations about classical music or comparing Mulisch do not quite work. Because this series is not in the corner "Difficult" or what you want to mean by that. In fact... they are bite-sized chunks. But very nice chunks! Have now seen the last episode, so can give a final verdict. Too bad you can't give a .5 here, because I give it a 7.5. It's nice that everything remains unresolved and vague (I don't think I'm revealing anything) remains intact. That's the list! And within that, different stories take place. What is it like to live, to deal with, to process with that vagueness. How do you process something you don't understand? etc. etc. The stories regularly touch each other and that is beautiful and sometimes surprising. The level is quite high, and not too American, even if it is 100%. I do have to comment on part 10, the end.... Slightly disappointing. A little too American... Anyone who sees him will understand. This is a series you'll either love or hate. Nothing to do. But judge him when you've seen him in its entirety. 7.5! But an 8 because he pleasantly surprised me.

The comparison with "True detective" is easily made, but that series had two Oscar winners in the lead roles. And that, I think, is the big difference with this series. I enjoyed watching "The leftovers" and loved that something very Belgian like Brel's "Ne me quitte pas" was in two episodes (9+10). I always like :-) Good storylines, strong sexy characters and an original pitch. Nice series, but not suitable for viewers who don't like "special", because it certainly is, special.

One of the best series I've ever seen. Since this series has the same director as Lost, both are similar. But, unlike the ending of Lost, you won't be disappointed here.
