The Pacific is een Amerikaanse oorlogsserie van HBO. De serie ging in première op 14 maart 2010.
The Pacific is gebaseerd op de memoirs van twee soldaten en we volgen de eerste divisie van het Amerikaanse marinekorps in hun strijd tegen het Japanse rijk. Net zoals dat bij Band of Brothers het geval was, is ook in The Pacific een vrij onbekende cast aangetrokken. De laatste aflevering van Band of Brothers was natuurlijk te definitief voor een eventueel vervolg en dat komt er gelukkig ook niet. Toch hebben Hanks en Spielberg de handen weer ineengeslagen en komen ze met een nieuw WOII-drama, ditmaal aan de andere kant van de wereld: in The Pacific welteverstaan.

Okay, just to be clear, who says band of brothers is better than the pacific .. then I say. How can you know that, the people of the pacific have also suffered a loss ...

Saw the first episode yesterday. The first episode mainly tells who everyone is and there is a big fight to see. Very much looking forward to the next episode!

a fantastically good series with great special effects. The story and acting is not as strong as in band of brothers but the action and special effects are much better.

I really liked this series compared to Band of Brothers. In BoB they went much deeper into the people that really made you feel in the forests of Bastogne and the foxholes etc. In The Pacific I don't have that feeling at all. I regularly have Band of Brothers on. I watched the Pacific once. I thought that this (2nd) series couldn't quite match the first and I thought that was a shame. Was expecting more.

I think that is not so bad, they have also suffered a loss, etc .. so I like band of brothers and the pacific, (maybe because of the jokes of the easy company that band of brothers can live like this) .. but I think their good. to live and carry on like this. I've seen pacific 10 times and band of brothers ten times too .. I think both are good. But that is my opinion..

Secretly I had of course expected a lot more from this, a kind of successor to Band of Brothers. This was very disappointing, not that the series is not good, but it is a far from my bed show. Where Band of Brothers takes place in Europe and sometimes even in the Netherlands, this takes place somewhere on the other side of the world.
