The Vampire Diaries is een Amerikaanse fantasie-/horrorserie van de zender The CW. De serie ging in première op 10 september 2009.
The Vampire Diaries is gebaseerd op de gelijknamige boekenreeks van L.J. Smith. Vier maanden nadat een tragisch auto-ongeluk een einde aan het leven van hun ouders maakte, probeert de 17-jarige Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) en haar 15-jarige broer Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) hun leven weer op te pakken. Ze wonen nu bij hun tante Jenna (Sara Canning) die er het beste van probeert te maken.
Als het schooljaar begint, zijn Elena en haar vrienden gefascineerd door de nieuwe mysterieuze student Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). Stefan en Elena voelen zich meteen tot elkaar aangetrokken. Wat ze niet weet is dat Stefan een vampier is.
In en rond Mystic Falls worden verschillende mensen dood aangetroffen na een aanval van een wild beest. Stefan weet dat dit niet waar is. Als hij thuis komt treft hij zijn oudere broer Damon (Ian Somerhalder) aan die hij al jaren niet heeft gezien. Ze gaan met elkaar de strijd aan om de ziel van Elena, van haar vrienden, familie en alle mensen in het kleine dorpje Mystic Falls.

You know what stupid I think I got an email saying that Nina Dobrev is not going to play in season 7. And has stopped tvd. Really stupid without her tvd is really not exciting !!!! :-(

Nina Dobrev has also reported it herself, she has officially said goodbye, she will not be there during the filming of season 7! That means that the number of viewers will drop dramatically .. Tjah! I am not going to look anymore after this season!

I think maybe she will come back she was not murdered in the end so if bonnie dies she will come back;) I think she recorded a sabtical earlier otherwise they would not have kept that option open

I am now at season 1 episode 19 it is quite exciting now but I am still busy XD in the past I did not have much with vampires but since I saw twilight werewolves and vampires are completely my thing: P

The Vampire Diaries is no longer broadcast on TV in the Netherlands. You can watch it via Popcorn Time, or Netflix, but I think they are a year behind, because season 6 has yet to come. Wow. I just watched the last 3 episodes of S7 and made night work of it. I think Enzo is a really good addition to the series and I have not missed Elena for a moment. The last episode of S7 stirred up different emotions in me and especially the very last 15 minutes. This promises, again, so much good for S8. Hats off to the makers for coming up with a good story every season full of excitement, new loves and unexpected twists!
