Beck is a young program who becomes the skillful leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid. His mission is to free his home and friends from the reign of the villainous Clu 2 and his henchman General Tesler. Beck will be trained by Tron - the greatest warrior the Grid has ever come to know. Tron will not only teach Beck the fighting and light cycle skills he needs to challenge this brutal military occupation, but he will be a guide and mentor to him as he grows beyond his youthful, impulsive nature into a courageous, powerful, strong leader. Destined to become the next Tron of the system, Beck adopts Tron's persona and becomes the archenemy of General Tesler and his oppressive forces.

I've never been a big fan of the recent film, although I did appreciate the mood set (thanks to some good work by Daft Punk and Trapanese). I always labeled it: "Enjoyable, but it could do a lot more." This animated series actually continues this trend. So far I think it's a decent and fairly interesting series. Enough original story and variety to keep you interested, mature enough not to be chased away when you're over 13, and the cliché situations that exist are disguised relatively well. Disadvantages, however, are in the speed of the series. Especially the first few episodes, scenes and statements follow a bit too quickly. As a result, moments of rest are missing in the film, and this is a pity for the music, which is again well taken care of here. Every now and then the main character even wants to make a funny 'spiderman-like' remark in an action scene. This doesn't fit the character or the series in my opinion. These (and some small other) things mainly impress you that the series is made by Disney, so it won't be too difficult or boring for younger audiences. Fortunately it is not really disturbing. However, efforts seem to have been made to reduce costs considerably. Animations are not always smooth, CGI is too obvious or backgrounds and faces are simplified. You see the latter especially in action scenes, where the background quickly changes into 1 vague color. And with the support characters (the 2 friends of Beck for example) because their face and especially the hair is terribly static and unrealistic. The series suffers the most from this, and the somewhat eccentric physique (long legs) that not everyone is used to or is served by, does not contribute positively to this. That Quorra shows her (animated) face in this series, I found the episode and background story of one of the characters a very positive influence. I hope she will play an even bigger role later in this series. Because with 7 of the 18 planned episodes broadcast, we are currently not even halfway. Plenty of time, therefore, to deepen and elaborate on the common thread and main roles. Written after Ep 7 (Ongoing) (Temporary) grade: 7
