The atmosphere of 'the outdoors' is all right, the pace is nice, the actors are sympathetic and the sets are beautiful, you really feel like you are in Virgin River. Thank you, Netflix, because this is really guilty pleasure television! Because the script is based on a book series (by author Robyn Carr) everything runs smoothly. The plot is rich and compelling. In short: a young woman from the big city with a hidden past, moves to a remote village and finds meaning in her life again. Alexandra Breckenridge rocks! She did that in 'The Walking Dead' and also in 'This is us', and now she's doing it again. Lov It's 13+ instead of 7+, so it's not all rose scent and moonshine, the main characters are marked by life. They also experience quite intense feelings of loss and sadness. That makes it all real and beautiful. Every series has a flaw, and in Virgin River that one small flaw is Annette O'Toole, who in my opinion is just a little too much of a character in her portrayal of the role of mayor. Fortunately she is the only one. I think the other actors are great, even the bad guys (yes, there are) are not portrayed as cardboard characters, but as lifelike people. This is a feel-good version of 'Ozark', haha! I am already looking forward to a second season.

Beautiful vivid images (of which you get the urge to put on a mountain cover & take long nature walks) Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) in S.01 I was very annoyed with her, superficially and expressionlessly hope that she will play better in 2nd Season. Jack (Martin Henderson ♡) in it against delicious actor. Doc and Hope also portray their characters very well. It really is a guilty pleasure series for me. A bit gooey, just not a Hallmark. :) ps Halfway through S.02. and is not disappointing, Mel plays a lot more convincing, more facial expression.
