Westworld is een Amerikaanse sciencefictionserie van de zender HBO. De serie ging in première op 2 oktober 2016.
De serie speelt zich af in het fictieve Westworld, een technologisch geavanceerd western-themapark, dat volledig wordt bevolkt door androïde die inwoners (Engels: hosts) worden genoemd. Deze komen tegemoet aan de wensen van de zwaar betalende bezoekers die gasten (of ook nieuwkomers) worden genoemd. De gasten kunnen doen wat ze willen in het park, zonder angst voor vergelding van de inwoners. Het park kent ongeveer tweeduizend verschillende inwoners, die elk hun eigen verhaallijnen uitspelen.

Was a bit hesitant about this series, western ?? I sat down with the original in mind. What is immediately noticeable is that the pilot raises questions, slowly the storylines come together, which I think is a must for a successful series. Actually, I was hooked after 1. And after watching the 2nd all the way. You are always on the edge of your seat asking what next. Of course you know that things will get horribly out of hand, but how and when? I think the casting is well done. I personally love Ed Harris as the bad guy. Versatile actor if you check his oeuvre again. Anyway, quality. My son has yet to start and I am very curious what he will find. Same addiction as his Pa ... Series.

Maybe I'm too strict or have the disadvantage of seeing the movie when it came out in 1973, but no matter how great the cast may seem for this series and how beautiful the pictures may be at times, was the way the story in the film was told better than how the pilot episode brings it all. Of course, some big names in the cast still don't replace Yul Brynner, and a classic version of "Paint it black" during the action as a snack is fun but doesn't turn a mediocre thing into a masterpiece. As far as I am concerned, it will at least have to be better in the following episodes.

I thought it was a really good pilot. I myself have not seen the film at all, so the concept is completely new to me and therefore very interesting. Definitely one to watch!

I don't know the movie. Was really looking forward to the series. Especially to see Sir Anthony Hopkins at work again. There is a charismatic man standing there. Last scene reminded me a bit of his role as Lecter in Silence of the lambs. Series is good, nice pilot. Change, but I like that. I want more. I want to know how this will end.

Meanwhile seen the first 2 episodes. The first 68 minutes is indeed a bit of bite and you constantly wonder where is this going now. In episode 2 the lines that were plotted in episode 1 are elaborated. This creates a bond with the main characters. I am quite impressed. And I am curious how it will continue, although I now have a suspicion which way this is going. As far as I am concerned, the quality that I am used to from HBO splashes off.
