Too absurd for words, but I still laughed a lot. Wet Hot American Summer makes no sense at all. With a star cast that you say to yourself! So many pass by that you no longer know where to look. This series does not take itself seriously to language. Wet Hot American Summer winks at us all the time and says, "Look what absurdity and weirdness we're throwing at the screen." Sometimes that goes well, sometimes it doesn't. But it is an entertaining session of 8 episodes, nothing more nothing less. It doesn't want to be more than that. If you have too many serious bones in your body, skip this one. Then save everything except your remote. DO NOT!!!
So many good actors, and yet so badly acted. It could also be the script. Absurd humor, is an understatement. It's just never funny. Do not start this series.
What a crappy series. don't start really super bad. A man turned into a can of vegetables. say yourself, then you are already done with the series, yes.
As Virgil Vevie says: if you are not into absurd humor then this series is not for you. I regularly have to laugh out loud about it. For those of us who grew up in the 80s, there are quite a few recognizable elements such as clothing, which, by the way, annoyed me at the time and can now laugh about it.
Idd, Arjensky. For example, I read a reaction here that there is bad acting, but everything but bad acting. There is deliberately over-the-top and exaggerated acting. Everything is exaggerated, but that is also the intention. If you do not realize this, then you immediately ignore the whole point. The movie this series is based on was exactly like that. I recognize the clothes too, idd. I also laughed a lot, especially at Christopher Meloni. And Ken Marino driving Joe Lo Truglio's ear; I could laugh about it.
We are often on the same page when it comes to comedy. :) Being credible over the top acting is very, very difficult. I don't know that movie so I'm going to look it up.
