I agree with you, although I think it is meant to be a sitcom. In my opinion there were also far too many aspects that we know from the older Sheldon (piece or 4 to 5) to make it clear 'this is the young Sheldon'. If they had dosed that a little better, a nice storyline would have been possible with the growth to the Sheldon of TBBT.
