This might be my favorite 'western' of all time. For historical fiction it tells a very accurate tell for the times, I would imagine. My great grandmother told me lots of stories before she passed & I'd like to think she would have told the truth since she & her forefathers lived through the age.
I loved Elsa's character. So much love & spirit. The entire series was what I thought of as an epic romance.
I loved traveling through each state. I loved James falling in love with the land as they travelled through, he and his wife forgiving what life had to bring them as quickly as one tragedy after another struck. So much tragedy. Be prepared.
