Netflix cancels Altered Carbon

Netflix has decided to cancel the American science fiction series Altered Carbon. The series premiered in 2018.

Last February, the eight-part second season of Altered Carbon released on Netflix. This season was apparently also the last. Netflix has decided to not renew the series with a third season. Supposedly, the decision to cancel the series was already made back in April and was not a result of the coronavirus.

Altered Carbon was created by Laeta Kalogridis (Birds of Prey) and is based on the book with the same name by Richard K. Morgan that released in 2002. The series takes place in the future, which features something that is close to immortality. The consciousness of someone who dies can be downloaded into new bodies.

Well, difficult .. don't get me wrong because there is still plenty to tell and the ending is open, but I wouldn't call it a real cliffhanger .. at least, not the "regular" cliffhanger where a season ends with a lot of tension. I found season 2 stronger than season 1 again.

Once. Season 1 was strong. I have also seen season 2, but I have almost forgotten about it. Didn't make much of an impression. I don't remember if this has a real cliffhanger, I don't think so. It's always a shame when an SF series with an original premise is stopped, but in this case I don't know if I will really miss it. I do not think so. The advantage is that I can now buy the complete series box earlier than I thought :-)
