BBC series Baptiste renewed for second season

Baptiste is a British detective series from BBC One. The series premiered in February 2019. It has since been decided that a second season will follow.

The series shows the return of the quirky detective Julien Baptiste (Tchéky Karyo) and is written by Harry and Jack Williams. Baptiste takes place in Amsterdam during the first season, and follows Julien and his wife during a visit to the Netherlands. While they are there, the couple's journey is interrupted when the chief of police asks Baptiste for help with an ongoing case. Before the detective knows, he finds himself in the middle of an investigation that uncovers the shady underworld of Amsterdam that is hidden behind the idyllic streets and canals.


Tchéky Karyo

The second season of Baptiste will take place in Hungary. Killing Eve actress Fiona Shaw will join the cast. Julien (Tchéky Karyo) delves into the corrupt underworld of Budapest in an attempt to find family of a British ambassador who went missing in the Hungarian mountains while on a skiing holiday. The ambassador Emma Chambers is portrayed by Fiona Shaw. The detective has to deal with the unreliable Hungarian police and international media interest while he is eagerly looking for her husband and two sons.

The BBC has not yet announced when the second season of Baptiste will release. Production in Budapest will start in February.
