Netflix is working with Adam Price (Ragnarok), the original creator of Borgen, on a fourth season of the political Danish drama series. Borgen premiered on DR1 in 2010 and ended with its third season in 2013. The fourth season will probably be available on Netflix in 2022, after premiering on Danish network DR.
Before the fourth season releases on Netflix, the first three will first release on the streaming service. A specific date has not yet been announced.
In Borgen, Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen, The Accident (2019)) is elected first female prime minister of Denmark. Her new duties take a toll on her private life and loved ones. In the fourth season, Nyborg is the minister of foreign affairs. Next to that, the series follows the career of Katrine Fønsmark (Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Greyzone), who is now leading a news desk of a national tv network.
