Deutschland is een Duitse dramaserie van de zender RTL Television. De serie ging in première op 17 juni 2015.
Deutschland is een aangrijpende verhaal dat zich afspeelt tegen de echte cultuur in oorlogen en politieke gebeurtenissen van Duitsland in de jaren 1980. Deutschland 83 volgt Martin Rauch (Jonas Nay) als de 24-jarige Oost-Duitser is getrokken uit de wereld zoals hij het weet en wordt verstuurd naar het Westen als een undercover spion voor de Stasi buitenlandse dienst. Ondergedoken in het zicht in de West-Duitse leger, moet hij de geheimen van de militaire strategie van de NAVO te verzamelen. Alles is nieuw, niets is wat het lijkt en iedereen die hij tegenkomt verbergt geheimen, zowel politiek als persoonlijk.

As a matter of principle, I don't speak German my whole life (read: I have little command of the language of our eastern neighbors and I don't want it from my grandmother), but when even the Americans start television shows on German then it may be time for this Principle over the ship deck for climbing. I've seen idiotic things over the years: Janet Jackson who said yes to the ugly muppet Jermaine Dupri in front of the altar, Michael Jordan with a baseball club in his hands and the yellow and red Wesley Sneijder Galatasaray knife set (who invents such? Who ?! ), but I have never seen anything crazier then Americans who voluntarily donate money to a production in a foreign language. In the past she would have Americanized an English show like Broadchurch herself and now you're throwing it over a completely different bug ?! Madness! Good madness. Don't get me wrong. “And only the birds fly from East to West Berlin, they are neither fluted back nor shot down”, sang a very popular Dutch eighties band. That's all great and lovely, but then Das Klein Orkest would clearly never have heard from Martin Rauch. You could say a lot about Martin, but not that he is a bird. A strange bird maybe, but not a bird in the literal expression of the word. It's nineteen eighty-three. Because people in West Germany only deal with Coca-Cola, Marlboro and Nike Cortezjes, fear swells in the East for storming Americans and their pernicious ideology. Martin is recruited by his aunt to immerse himself in the necessary information as an infiltrant in the west. Under cover in the West German war power, Martin is amazed at the other method of life on the other side of the Iron Curtain. It is no surprise that Germany 83 comes from SundanceTV, perhaps better known under the name Sundance Channel, sleeve. With series like The Red Road, Top Of The Lake and Rectify, they have already proven that they want to take risks and dare to take with them from to from. Even Germany 83 is not one that should find its way directly to every American living room and that alone is reason enough to find this new trick great on forehand. And then we haven't spoken yet about the very convincing acting activity, the insane styling and musical wallpaper of the big ones of the 80's: David Bowie, Nena, Billy Idol and so on. Germany 83 have everything and what more can you wish for then everything? Exactly ... nothing.

The 2 first episodes have already fascinated me and never bored me. Episodes last only 45 minutes instead of 90 minutes as stated in the description. Recommended!
