Dexter will return at Showtime

In 2021, Michael C. Hall will once again be seen as Dexter. Showtime has announced ten new episodes in the form of a mini-series.

Showtime has announced that there's going to be a mini-series that features Michael C. Hall (Safe) as Dexter morgan. The series will consist of ten episodes. Supposedly, the series will carry on where the eighth season ended. Production is set to begin in 2021 and the series is expected to release somewhere in Q3 of 2021.

Dexter premiered back in 2006. The final episodes of the eighth season aired in 2013. A lot of fans weren't impressed by the ending. For a number of years, there have been rumours regarding a possible ninth season for Dexter. Lead actor Michael C. Hall revealed that he was also willing to return for a ninth season back in 2018. Depending on where you live, Dexter can be seen on various streaming services. In the Netherlands, it can be watched on Amazon Prime Video.

Gary Levine, Showtime Entertainment president, said the following about Dexter; “We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world.”

It would be nice if Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) returned in the form of flashbacks or as a ghost like with Harry. I always had the hope that Lumen (Julia Stiles), 5th and also my favorite season, would return in a later season but unfortunately that never happened. Fingers crossed!

I am currently in season 3 of Dexter and think it is a top series. I regularly read that the end of the series is not that great, so maybe they can finish things satisfactorily with this ninth season.

It strikes me that dissenting opinions are very often given anonymous thumbs down here. In addition to being antimidant, it still makes the effort to respond. I have never watched the series myself. But there are really few series that remain fresh and interesting even after the third season. So michaeljackson may just be right. It is certain that it is his truth. Why, then, does such an opinion have to be answered negatively anonymously? Just because you have a different opinion? Instead, try to explain why you disagree with an opinion?
