The British costume drama Downton Abbey appeared on television from 2010 to 2015. For 47 episodes we could enjoy the adventures of the aristocratic Crawley family and their staff, who all live in the Downton Abbey country house. After that, the series seemed to have come to an end for good and there were only the films Downton Abbey (2019) and Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022) that we could enjoy. But now it appears that there will probably be a new season after all.
The Daily Mail reports that Downton Abbey is returning. In fact, according to an insider, filming has already started and for now it looks like the new episodes will be released at the end of the year.
Filming of the new season has been done in secret, so we can't share much about the plot or cast yet. For example, we do not know whether the familiar faces from the earlier seasons and the films will be there again.
Actors from previous seasons include Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Laura Carmichael, Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery, Penelope Wilton, Allen Leech, Samantha Bond and Jim Carter.
Downton Abbey was written by Julian Fellowes, who also wrote and created Belgravia.
