No seventh season for Downton Abbey

No seventh season for Downton Abbey

All good things must come to an end and ‘Downton Abbey’ is no exception to that rule. According to various sources the sixth season will also be the last season of the British time period series, TV Line reports.

Rumour has it that many of the cast members’ contracts will expire at the end of the sixth season, and they are ready to move on. Earlier this month actress Maggie Smith teased that the series would end by saying: “I can’t see how it could go on… I mean, I certainly can’t keep going. To my knowledge, I must be 110 by now. We’re into the late 1920s.”

According to insiders, “You can keep the show going without Matthew and Sybill, but you can’t continue it without the entire Crawley family,”

With a fixed end date that is already known months in advance, ‘Downton Abbey’ avoids a sudden cancellation, making the series join a small group of series that can end on its own terms and conditions how it can or should end. And more importantly the producers and writers have enough time now to give the series a satisfactory ending, but that we have to wait and see.

What do you think, is it right that ‘Downton Abbey’ is going to end?
