Ten more actors will appear in the upcoming fourth season of HBO Max's Emmy-winning comedy series.Hacks is bolstering the ranks for his upcoming return. The Emmy-winning comedy series has announced the addition of thirteen new guest stars for its fourth season — including those populating the writers' room for Deborah Vance's (Jean Smart) new late-night talk show.
The new faces include Julianne Nicholson (pictured), Michaela Watkins, Bresha Webb, Robby Hoffman and Eric Balfour, while Danny Jolles, Gavin Matts, Grover Whitmore III, Holmes, Jasmine Ashanti, Katy Sullivan, Matt Oberg and Sandy Honig will guest as Deborah's new writers - all of whom will likely report to Hannah Einbinder's Ava.
In the season three finale, Ava blackmailed Deborah into giving her the head writer role on her new show. The synopsis for season four doesn’t say much, except “tensions rise as Deborah and Ava try to get their talk show off the ground and make history in the process.” Tensions indeed…
Hacks returns sometime this spring after an exceptionally successful third season. Not only did Smart win her third consecutive Best Actress in a Comedy Series award for her work on the show, the show itself beat out some tough competition (e.g. The Bear) to win top comedy.
The show is still led by creators Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky. Returning cast members in addition to Smart and Einbinder include Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Mark Indelicato, and Rose Abdoo, as well as Dan Bucatinsky, Helen Hunt, Tony Goldwyn, Kaitlin Olson, Jane Adams, and Lauren Weedman.
