Heizel 1985

Heizel 1985 is a Belgium documentary which aired on Canvas. The series premiered on September 23, 2022.

In Heysel 1985 sports journalist Frank Raes tells the story of the Heysel drama. On May 29, 1985, 39 people were killed after fan violence broke out in the Heysel stadium in Brussels. About an hour later, the European Cup I final between the Italian Juventus and the English Liverpool would be contested there. Despite the many casualties, the game was played for fear of more riots and deaths in case of cancellation.
