Not quite sure what I think of it yet. Lots of time jumps and the end of the wedding in ep.5? Where did that suddenly come from? It is clearly not level GoT yet.

Unfortunately. I tried, but I quit halfway through episode 5. Why? I got too much of a GTST vibe from this series. It definitely didn't grab me like Game of Thrones did. Where many more storylines were plotted in that series that came together very cleverly, this series is only about one king and the problems that succession to the throne poses for him. Who marries whom? Who sleeps with whom? It's all fine, but I don't care anymore. The first few episodes still contained some old-fashioned GoT gore, sex and action. But this hasn't happened for a while. You also hardly see the dragons from the title. And there really isn't a single character that I can sympathize with like I could with, for example, Daenerys and Aria. I know this is a first season and there is some building to do. But the first season of GoT, even the first episodes, had me right by the throat and I can't say the same about this. Also because I noticed that I hardly felt any urgency or pleasure that the new episode was available, I stopped watching it now. The 6 owes the series to the excellent production of this series. It looks very nice. But unfortunately that is not enough to hold attention.

The series is certainly not yet at the level of GoT, I will agree. However, the end of the 5th episode will be the beginning of a very interesting period! From the 6th episode there will be another time jump and the story will be told in which a civil war will break out, which is called the 'Dance of Dragons'. I don't know if you remember the conversation between Shireen Baratheon and Stannis Baratheon in the 5th season of GoT, but that's what this series will be about. Please note, that is a spoiler so if you look it up you have been warned :P

Of course you're going to compare it with Game of Thrones: it's just not that. There are quite a few 'boring conversations' in the series and I had to look up a family tree to understand who is ultimately whose child, nephew, niece, etc. You remember that if you watch Series 1 in one go, but if you then dive into Series 2 after a year... that's it. But other than that I still think it's fantastic.

What a strong 7th episode! The tension between the characters was higher than ever with so much being said with just the looks they gave each other. My favorite episode so far that focused on the kids. The kids have only been introduced since the last episode and you already feel like you really know them. The character development is so strong, and in so few episodes. There is not a character that is uninteresting. The show just knows how to build drama and throw its characters into situations where they have to clash. The scene between Daemon and Viserys, the scene between Rhaenyra and Alicent, the scenes between Daemon and Rhaenyra, the fight between the children... This is one of the few series where the storyline remains so strong after several time jumps between episodes.

Episode 8 has now become my favorite episode. Paddy Considine plays King Viserys so well... and that scene between Viserys and Daemon, heartbreaking.

Once again enjoyed House of the Dragon, this time season two. In fact, I found this season better than the first. Thank God no time jumps, changes of actors or other things that (can) take you out of the story. I wave away the criticism of people who find it too boring, want to see a war right away, see too few dragons or keep making the comparison with Game of Thrones. GoT was a completely different series. Yes, they both take place in Westeros and I thought GoT was better and had interesting characters, but HotD is simply also an excellent fantasy series. This is about one family that is slowly thrown into a war due to a misunderstanding about who should be the rightful heir to the throne. I don't find the conversations between the characters boring at all, but credible and intriguing. And if they already show the all-out war between the Greens and the Blacks with their dragons, the series is already over. It is good that the makers have announced that the series will end with four seasons. This story, unlike GoT, doesn't need more seasons, because then it would just be stretched out. For now, however, I'm enjoying it immensely and hope it stays that way for the remaining two seasons.

Worthless continuation of the series. Jumping forward 10 years at once and everything from scratch. Like they're screwing everything up. Just like the last season of Game of Thrones.
