Line of Duty is a British detective series on BBC One (voorheen BBC Two). The series premiered on June 26, 2012.

Steve Arnott is a young officer who’s fallen foul of his superiors for refusing to help in the cover-up of an operation that ended in the shooting of an innocent father. He seems ideal to join AC-12, an anti-corruption police unit, just as it starts to investigate Detective Chief Inspector Tony Gates, the regional force’s Officer of the Year.

Wow... what a fantastic series this was. I've seen quite a few series in my life, but this one is definitely one of my top 3 favorites of all time. Good actors, good storyline, everything only got better with each season. Maybe check it again in about 5 years. Highly recommended I would say.

One of my favorite series. Not every season is of the same level, but that might apply to all series, otherwise how do you appreciate another series and the seasons. If 2 of the 4 seasons are so bizarrely good, so well written, then the makers deserve all the credit. In fact, the 2 somewhat 'relatively' lesser seasons, are very functional and their loose ends / suddenly very deliberately worked out weaker. Below my reaction to S4 finale (no spoilers): You can feel the plot twist coming, you could predict it, but how? And is your gut feeling correct? It is not quite comfortable yet. And then, as the finale continues, your gut feeling grows into an adrenaline monster unleashed. Tying up all those loose ends, deeply buried fantasies, loose ends from 5 years ago !! And yet .... everything is correct, but then those last shots, am I looking for something that is not there? A bizarre thought, probably nothing, I no longer trust myself. Nevertheless ... something is crawling under my skin again. This final is excellent. May rank among the best ever. What a rush !! I didn't need one scene, the gun / action scene, at least that's what I thought at first. Now that I think about it, I will come back to that immediately, In line of duty, right across from each other. All in all, this final is one of the best ever.

“Catching criminals is hard enough, but catching cops — God give me strength.” -Det. Superintendent Ted Hastings

It’s a series about a fictional anti-corruption unit called “AC-12” of the British police force that investigates its own officers. There have been six seasons so far, each with a separate corruption investigation. So five seasons, five corrupt officers. While those investigations are the main points, there are various subplots that all necessarily lead to the revelation of a major cover-up.

Not a single officer is out of sight and there are several deliberate scenes designed to make the viewer question the moral sanity of the characters. A good reason to watch this show is creator Jed Mercurio, the same man behind another nitrogen-filled drama - The Bodyguard. The star of the show is the steely Keeley Hawkes in seasons two and three. A riveting performance. Such raw emotion she has brought to the screen... wow. Then there is the wonderful Adrian Dunbar as Superintendent Ted Hastings. You will admire his character for his steadfastness, determination, integrity, sadness, one-liners and everything else. Then there is the villain (who keeps the secret). Ah! He/she would be in my list of top 3 villains of modern TV dramas.

Every episode is accurate and captivating. Every episode ends with a "Prison Break"-like cliffhanger. (Prison Break (2005–2017)) The most interesting parts of the series are the interrogation/interview scenes. So much entertainment there. I find myself, once I start, having a hard time putting it down. I'm glad I found a series that I can watch for a long time.
Still have 3 seasons to go.

Already a 9 as a rating!!
