Making a Murderer is a ten-part documentary series based on true events which took place in the United States. It was streamed worldwide on Netflix on 18 December 2015.
One of the most-discussed series of the last few weeks tells the story of Steven Avery and his family. The Avery's, who are known as a white-trash family in their neighbourhood, own an auto salvage yard in Mishicot, Wisconsin. When in 1985 the then 22-year-old Steven was arrested for rape, the lives of the Avery's changed drastically.
Steven and his family kept insisting on his innocence. Eventually, Steven was convicted of 32 years in prison, despite several pieces of evidence which were beneficial to his case, including a reliable alibi. In 2003, after serving 18 years in prison, Steven was exonerated and released. For a period of two years, Steven was able to enjoy his freedom before he was arrested again. This time he was accused of the murder of Teresa Halbach.
The injustice inflicted on the Avery's is shocking and you will be appalled while watching. As a viewer you can feel both the anger and the pain of the Avery family, and in particular of Steven.
Everyone should watch this extraordinary series and it may even win the title of the best new series of 2015.

The injustice inflicted on the Avery's is shocking and you will be appalled while watching. As a viewer you can feel both the anger and the pain of the Avery family, and in particular of Steven.
It's impressive the way the trial is shown and for almost four hours you can follow an intense trial with a massive amount of testimonies from witnesses. Courtroom footage is alternated with interviews with lawyers, family members and, of course, Steven's parents. All of this keeps you captivated and after one episode it is almost impossible not to immediately watch the next one.The injustice inflicted on the Avery's is shocking and you will be appalled while watching.
