I'm so looking forward to this series with Kathy Bates! How disappointed I was when the series Harry's Law (2011) was canceled quite quickly. This seems like some kind of remake...I hope so...She's amazing!

With procedural series like Matlock (2024), it always depends on whether the mayonnaise works or not. This is a Flemish expression meaning that everything is right, that the atmosphere is good, that there's real chemistry between the main characters, and that you empathize with the protagonist(s) and their mission.
When you put veterans Kathy Bates, Beau Bridges, Patricia Belcher, and Sam Anderson together, you have the ideal mix for a successful series. I'm certainly enjoying Kathy Bates completely letting loose. At times, I felt like her director's instructions simply said, "Go ahead, make it fun, and do what you're good at." What an actress! She's Mattie; you believe her from start to finish. Of course, she already has an Oscar on her mantelpiece for her incredible performance in Misery (grin).
I'm hoping for many seasons, because I'd love for Matlock to last as long as Castle of Bones. It's definitely a series for fans of such series.
Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys cozy crime. For fans of Murders in the Building, The Spencer Sisters, or Castle. In that genre, I personally gave this one a solid 10 out of 10.
