Quite a few people are dying in San Francisco. Not only because their hearts have had enough after 84 years or because they try to drift a little too ambitiously past some massive oaks with their lowered Honda Civic, but also because they are being chased over by strangers. That is of course not possible. It would be a bit of a freak if everyone started taking the lives of people with impunity. To discourage this behavior, the SFPD sends detectives Terry and Hildy out into the streets. In terms of name, they may look like Paris Hilton's two lap dogs, but these Terry and Hildy bite and then never let go. First they get stuck in two murders that seem to link to some kind of Mark Zuckerberg-esque Silicon Valley nerd and then the magnifying glass turns to the death of a colleague. They do the latter in season 2 and that is nice to watch. Murder In The First is actually like a pancake, the first always fails. In 2014 TNT was lucky during the first season that I really had nothing better to do that one Saturday in June, the second season came off the pan in one go and didn't even need syrup to taste good. Is this too much imagery, yes? Sorry. Season one is a bit mediocre, but season two tastes like more. The case to be solved is more interesting in round 2, suddenly that pleasant appearance of a Sloan from Entourage appears on the scene and there are more layers in it, making the whole a bit more challenging to follow. Last year there was little to criticize about the acting and that line is fortunately continued carelessly. What's also nice is that you don't necessarily have to see the first season to be able to follow the second. For the lazy thunders among you, you can possibly just start at S02E01. A 7.5 on the Gumstarr scale. A 7 for season 1 and an 8 for this last exercise. Now let's wait and see what a possible third season will do to the average.
I probably won't be the only one who has this, but with Currie Graham I always feel like I'm looking at Kevin Spacey's younger brother. The resemblance between the two is really striking. This time, Currie has a bigger role to play in the third season of this, I think, underrated series that actually consists of two major storylines in its latest installment. So two crimes that, without really touching each other, are nicely intertwined over 10 episodes and never get boring at any time, on the contrary. As far as I'm concerned, the third season is the best so far and definitely recommended.
Funny, I keep shouting that too. Is he secretly Spacey's family? And I think Murder in the First is one of the best summer series in the last three years. Unfortunately this series is too often overlooked, everyone should watch it.
