Back in June 2020, it was revealed that various networks and streaming services were interested in The Lincoln Lawyer. Netflix has acquired the rights to the series and will take it over from CBS, which ordered the series back in 2019. Nine months later, the network decided to discontinue the project.
The Lincoln Lawyer is based on the books by Michael Connelly. The story revolves around Mickey Haller, who runs a law office from his Lincoln Town car in Los Angeles. The ten-part first season will be based on The Brass Verdict, the second book from the series. It is written by David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies). Ted Humphrey (The Good Wife) will serve as showrunner.
When the series was still in production at CBS, it was revealed that Logan Marshall-Green (Damnation) would portray the lead character. Netflix has now announced that Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Magnificent Seven) will portray the lead role instead. “Manuel is the ideal Mickey Haller, who is following in the footsteps of his attorney father with the showmanship of his Mexican movie star mother,” Connelly wrote.
