New lead actor for Lightyears

One of the lead characters in Lightyears was going to be portrayed by Ed O'Neill. He decided to leave the project. It has now been revealed who's going to take over. At first, Ed O'Neill (Modern Family) was going to portray one of the lead characters in Lightyears, but due to personal reasons, he has decided to leave the project. JK Simmons (Counterpart) will now portray Franklin York instead. Last October, Amazon Prime Video ordered the series.

The series revolves around Irene and Franklin York. A couple of years ago, the couple found a hidden room in their backyard. Somehow, the room leads to a strange, abandoned planet. Since then, they have carefully kept it a secret. The quiet existence of the Yorks is turned upside down when a mysterious young man enters their lives. Next to Simmons, Sissy Spacek (Castle Rock) will portray the lead role of Irene.
