I have also seen the original French series myself, which was slightly better in terms of the interaction between the two main characters. I was a bit hesitant to watch another watered-down version, but it turns out to be a pleasant surprise; it just takes some getting used to the new actors. The fact that the lead actress is autistic herself indicates once again that it is not so straightforward, and as far as I am concerned, she plays her role convincingly and with verve.

I found season two a bit lackluster; the cases were somewhat boring and I found the solutions too easy.
I think two seasons are enough for now.
At a certain point, I find Patience with her little backpack, headphones, and weird walk a bit too much of a good thing.

A series with a Baantjer feel, I had to get used to Patience, who acted her role somewhat exaggeratedly in the first episodes, but that improved later, and the last two episodes were very good. I think there will be a second season, given the ending of the last episode.

Yesterday I watched the double pilot episode and I really liked it. The acting was good—to me, that means "close to reality"—to name just one example: I thought the bias of some of the team's officers toward someone on the spectrum was portrayed very realistically.
Patience isn't a superwoman, and she doesn't need to be. She's smart, sees connections where others don't, and she delves into the research material, which is likely enough to help solve cases most of the time.
I haven't seen the original French series (Astrid & Raphaelle), but I actually prefer not to have to compare. This series is British and takes place in the picturesque city of York, which I've visited several times and love. I'm just going to enjoy the first two seasons of Patience, I know that already.
