Three years ago, Netflix acquired Ryan Murphy's Ratched after it also received various bids from Hulu and Apple. The streaming service immediately ordered two seasons. Netflix has just announced a premiere date. The first season is set to premiere on the 18th of September.
Ratched takes place in Northern California in the middle of the 20th century. Mildred Ratched (Sarah Paulson, American Crime Story) ends up with a job in a psychiatric hospital as a nurse. The series follows the first days of the nurse through mental care and her journey towards head nurse and complete monster.

The character from Sarah Paulson came from the book One Flew over the Cuckoo's nest by Ben Kesey from 1962, which was already adapted into a movie back in 1975. Next to Paulson, the cast further consists of Sharon Stone (Mosaic), Cynthia Nixon (Hannibal) and Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story). According to Murphy, it is a 'horrifyingly' talented cast.
